Energy Savings

As detailed in Table 2, the 69 installations completed during the first year of the rebate program off-set consumption of electricity and fossil fuels by conventional systems. Installed PV systems are estimated to save 76.2 MWh annually with lifetime savings of 1,524 MWh. Installed solar hot water systems are estimated to save annually 4,020 gallons of fuel oil, 3,141 gallons of propane, and 33.2 MWh of electric hot water.

The report show's cost savings as follows:

For the average home that heats with oil the savings in gallons of oil per year is 182.73
With a life time savings of 3,654.82 Gallons

Based on oil fuel cost of today as of 8-17-07 the cost of fuel per gallon is $ 2.40 and could go up to $ 3.00 or more by winter.

After 9/11 oil prices have only risen and are not expected to lower. What will we pay in
5 or even 10 years?

Follow the graph below to see the history of oil prices.

We feel the pay back of our solar systems will be very fast based on the fuel projections.
